Faith makes the small offering great

A lesson from the miracle of five loaves and two fish which was used to feed five thousand people.

Your offering could be a simple thing that does not carry much worth. But the way you give it matters and to whom you give it matters the most.  But when you  give the little with faith to the Almighty Creator he would bless the offering to make it great.

Extracted from book titled “Mom enough”

In the hands of the Lord, the offering was sufficient. More than sufficient. Even then, there were leftovers. Given in faith, even a small offering becomes great.

Plant my feet

Are you an outcast?

Are you feeling castaway?

Are you experiencing rejection?

The pain of being outcast is terrible. When you are castaway by your own people your hope is lost. During the time of your rejection you feel broke. You might feel that you are uprooted. Your hope could be lost. But cheer up you have a tower of refuge where you can run into. Even when you are castaway by men there is an open arms that you can run into.

You may go through situations that pluck you out from your comfort zone but let not those situations deter you. But hold on to God. You might be walking to a narrow path but don’t grumble or mock at God. Wait for God’a time of abundance. God would plant you back into the land that he has promised for you. When we say land it not talking just about a geographical location but it can be a promised blessing, a long awaited miracle or a breakthrough that you were praying for.

God promises to plant your feet with the blessing or the miracle or the miracle that you were waiting for. Never think that it was delayed but confess that this is God’s perfect time to receive the promised blessing. This blessing would overthrow all the instability in your life to bring balance and peace to your life. This blessing would stabilise your life and take you to the next level.

Let us see the hymn with a similar prayer,

I’m pressing on the upward way,

New heights I’m gaining every day;

Still praying as I’m onward bound,

“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Refrain:

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,

By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,

A higher plane than I have found;

Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay

Where doubts arise and fears dismay;

Though some may dwell where those abound,

My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

I want to live above the world,

Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;

For faith has caught the joyful sound,

The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height

And catch a gleam of glory bright;

But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,

“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Let this be our prayer today,

‘Lord plant my feet in the land that you have promised for me and stabilise my life forever’

Laudable nature

Injustice, unfairness, dishonesty, inequality, corruption, duplicity, deceit are common in this world.

  • How do we react to them?
  • What is our response when we are suppressed?
  • How do we deal with such people?

A Bible verse in this context is mentioned below.

1 Peter 2: 19-241

For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

It is normal for one to endure pain for a mistake. There is nothing special about it. You have done something wrong and hence you are experiencing trouble. This is normal reaction.

But admiration comes from an extraordinary act. Like when Christ endured suffering for no fault of his. He underwent suppression with absolute gentleness. When one endures suffering for doing good then that is a laudable nature before God. Human eyes may not appreciate us but God would admire us. Enduring evil for good was the example that Christ left for us. Each Christian is called to follow this example. Christ is the prototype to be followed. Following Christ in suffering will make our nature laudable.

Unfading beauty

 Beauty has become the demand of many. Acceptance is linked to beauty.  Fair skin tone is considered superior. Holding such a biased temperament has pulled people and make them a prey to the upcoming beauty industry. There was a spurious upsurge in cosmetic use, skin treatments, beauty packages and what not.

Next comes the jewellery and clothings. The society has pushed us to the point that we give importance to such intricate things. Shopping is available at the tip of your finger unlike olden days when we have to set aside a day for shopping with lots of planning.

Skin tone, clothing, jewellery and hairstyle are immortal. They would all fade away. What is tue beauty?

1 Peter 3:3-5

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves”

Gentle spirit

  • A person with gentle spirit would understand the people around and would be able to think from their shoes.
  • A person with a gentle spirit would not have difficulty in forgiving and showing forbearance.
  • A person with a gentle spirit is benevolent and good-natured.
  • A person with a gentle spirit is compassionate and sympathetic.
  • A person with a gentle spirit is clement, considerate and loving.

Hope in God

Hope in God is necessary for one to hold a gentle spirit. Only when you trust your God that he would fight can you sit back with a gentle spirit. Complete dependence on God breeds gentle spirit. Because if you are not going to trust him you would explode and react to situations rather than holding a gentle spirit. So when you are unable to hold a gentle spirit then check your hope levels. If your hope levels are low you are likely to lose your gentle spirit. When your hope levels are high then your gentle spirit would be intact.

Check your hope levels when your gentleness is tampered

True unfading beauty is your inner nature rather than your outwards adornment. A women with a gentle spirit who trusts on the Lord is considered world beauty.

Reward for meekness

This a continuation of my previous blog titled “Gentleness” where we discusssed that meekness and weakness are not the same. Meekness is never degrading oneself. But meekness is waiting on the Lord to work in your regard. Meekness never takes revenge, but waits for divine intervention.

Let’s us not think that they are incapable or weak to taking revenge but they chose to be meek. The Bible says that the people who depict meekness are blessed and their reward is great.

‘Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth’ Matt 5:5.

A person with meekness might look like a weak worm in human eyes yet that is not the same with God. Take courage meek people because your meekness will be recorder and rewarded by your Creator. The people who practise meekness will never fret about any wrong or injustice devised against them. In the same time meek people never show disregard to the wrong doers. Just that meekness helps them to entrust this adverse situation into the mighty hands of the Almighty God and continue to be meek.

How are we? How do we react to injustice? Do we practise meekness? In this unjust world I would suggest one would require truck loads of meekness but it is definitely incomparable with the inheritance that is assured.
