The very point that I would like to clarify is, ‘Making a home is not the same as building a house’. A lot of efforts go into the making of a materialistic house. A lot more in involved in the making of a home. A luxurious house is incomplete without a happy family to call it ‘home sweet home’. Furniture with upholstery, latest home appliances, ceramic utensils, fine decors can make a comfortable house but never a home. Building a house needs a house loan but to make a home money is not essential. Here is what God taught me about ‘Making a home’. These are the three important requisites for making a home.

1. Choose the best architect

We tend to look for the best architect in town to work for our house. We read in Psalms 127:1 as, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain’. So when it comes to making of our home, we need to involve God. One should give the entire process into God’s hands and just follow Him. When God is the head of the house then He would take care of each and every thing. We can happily entrust the authority to God and just play the role that He appoints for us.

2. Buy the material

In Proverbs 24:3-4 we read that, ‘By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches’. One has to have heavenly wisdom to make a home. The qualities of heavenly wisdom are purity, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, full of good fruit, impartial and sincere. 3. Be the efficient worker

God has entrusted this duty with the wife of the house. (Proverbs 14:1) The wife has the capability to build a house and also to destroy it. Hence wives be alert to choose the best for tour family.

As Christians, we need to understand the importance of making a home. Making a home is more paramount than building a house. God is the best architect to make a home; by wisdom home is built and understanding it is established. Though making a home is the responsibility of a wife, even the husband can pitch in to help. With God a couple make their home because a chord of three strands is not easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12) Making of a home with God as the architect and heavenly wisdom as cement is successful.
